Fishing operation through Coil Tubing

NPS recently completed a critical fishing operation through Coiled Tubing. Initially a slick line was used by other Company to run a cutter tool to fish the running tool to retrieve the original slick line tool (to open the Monolock plug), however a fixed centralizer was not possible to be attached to the cutter tool, hence it was lost as well. NPS was called in to fish out both the Cutter tool and the Running tool which was assumed to be laying on top of each other. With the size of the fish totaling to 3.750 inches and the completion tubing ID of only 3.950 inches, the operation was quite difficult. Another challenging factor of this project was the presence of H2S Gas trapped below the Monolock plug that originally needed to be removed i.e. during the fishing operation; pulling out the plug was not a viable option. However with NPS’ people expertise, they were able to successfully fish out the tools and control H2S emission after 22 runs with the Coiled Tubing, with no fatalities.
